Did you know you can use your own blood for a facial? its called Vampire Facials

Vampire facials are all the rage and though it may look disgusting, using your own blood can have massive benefits for your skin. Take a look!
Did you know you can use your own blood for a facial? While some may agree that beauty is pain, others would argue that injecting your own blood back into your face in the name of beauty might be a step too far. Here's all you need to know about the crazy beauty trend inspired by Kim Kardashian.
GETTY IMAGE

First it was semen facials and now we have the vampire facial, otherwise known as a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) facial, was first brought into the spotlight by Kim Kardashian West who underwent the procedure during an episode of the Keeping Up with the Kardashians spin-off, Kim and Kourtney Take Miami.
A "blood facial" or "vampire facial" is a cosmetic procedure during which a doctor draws a couple vials of blood from your arm, centrifuges the blood to separate out the plasma and platelets from the red blood cells. They add the platelet-rich plasma back into your face. So that it properly soaks in, the doctor pokes your face all over with a bunch of micro-needles before applying the plasma.

There's no evidence at all that this procedure works and there is an element of danger with plasma injections because they deal with the patient's own body fluids. The idea behind blood facials is that they infuse the skin with platelets, which contain growth factors, which in turn are known to be helpful in wound healing.

Needling the skin always has the risk of infection so be sure to receive the procedure from a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
The procedure works best for those with premature wrinkles, high levels of solar damage, or anyone who wants an even tone and fresher appearance to their skin, however if you have a history of blood diseases, including clotting or bleeding disorders, you should not seek PRP treatment.

As far as risks go, there aren't as many as you might think. There is a chance of slight bruising at the time of the venipuncture. And aside from the discomfort of a blood draw and bruising from injection or microneedling, the vampire facial is relatively safe, as it is your body's own blood being recycled. Cost typically ranges, but in the dermatologist's office a treatment will set you back around the equivalent of N365,000.

Maintaining a healthy weight is an ongoing struggle for most. Sometimes you want to shed a few pounds quickly, whether it's to meet a weight goal, feel confident in a bikini or fit into dream dress. Here's 3 ways to lose weight in only 3 days.

There's only so much one can safely do in 3 days to drop a few pounds, but you can take off a little bit of extra weight, even if it's water weight and reducing bloating. In as little as 3 days, you can feel slimmer, healthier and much happier for making the lifestyle change.

However, just know that it's an ongoing journey and if you want to lose calories, burn fat, build muscle, and achieve longer lasting results, you have some much bigger lifestyle and dietary changes to make.

The '3-Day Diet'

The 3-Day Diet, sometimes referred to as The Military Diet, is a three day diet plan with a strict breakfast, lunch, and dinner regimen. Proponents of this method recommend following the meal plans as closely as possible, and then returning to a more regular 1,500 calorie diet for the remainder of the week.

Breakfast for day 1 consists of:

1 cup (.25 litres) of unsweetened black coffee or tea
1 slice of toast, preferably whole wheat
2 tablespoons (30 ml) of peanut butter
1/2 grapefruit

Lunch for day 1 consists of:

1 cup (.25 litres) of unsweetened black coffee or tea
1 slice of toast, preferably whole wheat
1/2 can of tuna

Dinner for day 1 consists of:

3 ounces (85 grams – about the size of a deck of playing cards) of any meat

Lunch for day 2 consists of:

1 cup (.25 litres) of cottage cheese
.7 ounces (20 grams) of baked sweet potato chips

Dinner for day 2 consists of:

2 hotdogs (without any hotdog buns)

A 3-day fast
Some research has shown that drinking only water and limiting yourself to less than 200 calories per day for only 3 days can help you reboot your immune system in addition to dropping some quick pounds.

This form of 'forced starvation' depletes your energy reserves (in the form of glycogen), which triggers your body to recycle and then create new immune cells once you finish the fast.
Warning! Fasting can be harmful, especially for young or old people, or for those with other health problems. If you’re seriously thinking of trying a 3-day fast, you should consult your doctor first.

Diet Swaps
Changing what and when you eat can help you banish the bloat.

Avoid beans, the notoriously gassy musical fruit.
Eat smaller meals, slowly, and more frequently throughout the day to avoid bloating up when you eat.
Go for protein smoothies, yogurt, and low sodium soups instead of solid food. Liquids are easier to digest and don't pouch out your stomach as much as solid meals. Throw some fiber-rich fruit into your smoothies and yogurt to help move things along in (and out of) your intestines.
Avoid carbonated beverages and chewing gum. The bubbles in these drinks can bloat you up, and you ingest a lot of extra air when you chew gum.

THE LIP GLOSS THAT CAN INSPIRE YOU WHENEVER YOU FEEL DEAD INSIDE

What does self-care look like in the age of environment Certainly not buying a $26 lip oil! But if buying that lip oil helps me feel like I'm doing a satisfactory job masking the outrage and anger roiling just beneath the surface, then I will gladly rejigger my weekly budget to accommodate it.

As the days grow  "looking' cute for the 'gram" and "maintaining a human appearance" can start to feel like especially foreign brand.

Though it's marketed as an oil, it goes on like a gloss and gives your lips a luminous sheen that's subtle and doesn't feel too Wet n Wild circa 2001.

Since it's technically an oil, it also has the added benefit of actually moisturizing your lips with a plant-based formula of mirabelle plum, jojoba, and hazelnut oil. It only comes in seven colors—including a teal, which I don't entirely understand?—but it's subtle enough that almost any shade is likely to look good on any skin color (except, maybe, the mint).

At $26 a pop, Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil doesn't come cheap for a lip gloss, but it's a small price to pay for temporary satisfaction with your appearance at the end of the world.
